Jaggery ('htan nyed' in Burmese) is a traditional Burmese sweet snack made of palm sugar. Often taken after a meal, it is believed to be good for digestion. A favourite of children – and often dished out by the grandparents – talk of jaggery conjures up rich memories of childhood.
